Permit for Self-employment (after entry with visa for "annual immigration quota decree")

What is this permit?

It is a residence permit for those who work independently, that is do not have an employer, but carry out work or professional activity on their own (for example: merchant, craftsman, freelancer, etc.).

1. Within 8 days from your arrival in Italy, fill out the Form 1 and Form 2 (postal kit) and send it to thepost office authorized.
2. You will receive an appointment at Police Headquarters (Questura) for fingerprints.
3. The Police Headquarters (Questura) will tell you when to collect your permit.

How long does this permit last?

• The duration depends on the activity you perform and the documents you present, but usually it is 1 to 2 years.
• It is renewable, if you continue to work in self-employment and meet the required requirements.

What can you do with this permit?

With this permit you can:

• Work as self-employed with VAT number
• Work as an employee (employed work)
• Obtain residence in the Municipality where you live
• Register with the Health Service and have a general practitioner
• Travel in the Schengen area with passport (for maximum 90 days every 180)
• Apply for family reunification
• Enroll in courses, schools, universities

What happens if you close your business?

• You can request a permit for job seeking upon renewal, but you must prove that you are looking for another job or business.

When does the permit expire, what do I do?

• You must apply for renewal before expiration or at most within 60 days after
• If you meet the requirements, you can also convert it into another type of permit (study, family, long-term resident, employed work, etc.). You must request the conversion before expiration.
